Job Title: Development and Programs Coordinator
CAIR-LA is looking for a dynamic, energetic individual to lead several key programs.
Job Description:
The development and programs coordinator will be responsible for researching, applying for, and managing grants and otherwise growing CAIR's funding. This person will also develop and manage programs, publications, interns, and volunteers for CAIR's office in the Greater Los Angeles Area.
This position includes organizing and managing our annual banquet, which hosts up to 2,000 people. Other programs include workshops, talks, forums, sensitivity trainings, and civic engagement and educational campaigns.
The candidate must have the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and must be comfortable working productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment in a rapidly growing organization. The role requires excellent verbal and written communication and managerial skills to interface with staff, community leaders, volunteers, donors and grantors in a professional, effective manner. The candidate should be flexible with changing job requirements as the team grows.
Some work on evenings, weekends, and travel will be required. This position reports to the executive director.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Work experience with a non-profit organization or in a related field preferred
- Proven mastery of Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and graphic and publishing programs
- Must be experienced in using the Internet and various social media networking sites
- Must have strong initiative and demonstrate the ability to learn in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and have the ability to handle multiple tasks
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Ability to creatively think and pitch CAIR’s work in a way that attracts donors and fits with grants
- Ability to connect with and be a role model for youth
- Experience in and strong commitment to serving the American Muslim community

Job Title: Civil Rights Coordinator
The nation’s largest civil rights advocacy organization for Muslims seeks a civil rights coordinator. We seek a high energy, assertive individual to handle a wide range of legal responsibilities and to be come an integral part of our advocacy team.
Duties:
This full-time position involves handling of civil rights cases, which includes interviewing and counseling complainants, communicating with offending individuals, companies and organizations.
This person should have a law degree (Juris Doctor/ “JD”), paralegal certificate, or a Bachelor’s degree in related field. Applicant should also have working knowledge of the Microsoft applications particularly Excel and database applications.
Qualifications:
- Experience advocating for individuals who have faced discrimination.
- Experience in client counseling, litigation, mediation, and/or arbitration.
- Ability to multitask and ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
- Effective writing and communication skills, the ability to establish positive working relationships with colleagues, and sound judgment are of utmost importance.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- High degree of responsibility and dedication.
- Willing to travel.
Minimum of four years experience required.
